Join the Learning Revolution

San Diego Learning Revolution is an organization promoting consent-based, learner-directed education in San Diego, California. We support families who are looking for educational alternatives that put the child in the driver seat of their education. We also engage in community organizing to reform education and child welfare policies and practices in order to make learner-directed education available to all children, protect children's mental health, and affirm children's rights. We believe deeply in the power of community and thus support efforts to build up solidarity economies within neighborhoods in order to bring out their full potential and create the best conditions for youth and human thriving.

 

As you can see, we view education holistically. The way we learn within a society is inherently intertwined with the philosophies, practices, and politics of that society. Thus, to truly transform education is to transform society.

 

But don't worry, this doesn't mean that we have to wait for a social transformation to engage with liberatory educational practices. There are communities all over the world engaging in these practices right now. We might not be able to transform our state's education system through a quick campaign, but it is certainly possible to connect with like-minded individuals and cooperatively build liberatory educational alternatives available to those who are presently seeking them out.
